Musicians & parties
Hearing protection is provided in the workplace with a 80dB Health & Safety Executive limit, but we are seeing more hearing loss cases from recreational activities including motorcycle riding, shooting and playing music.
At Honiton Hearing Centre we provide high quality, custom and ready-to-wear earplugs to protect your ears in various situations.
WHY USE HEARING PROTECTION?
Nowadays people realise noise in the workplace can damage hearing and steps are taken in the form of ear muffs and disposable plugs all being readily available. So, seeing damage arising from loud music, motorcycling, shooting and surfing also needs attention to reduce the likelihood of damage to your hearing.
This overloading of the finely tuned hearing system can lead to permanent damage and distortion, a lack of accurate fine tuning, hearing sounds that aren’t there (Tinnitus), over-sensitivity to loud sounds, reduced sensitivity to quiet sounds, reduced reaction times, and even – they have now found – damage to the brain itself.
CUSTOM & OFF-THE-SHELF EARPLUGS
At Honiton Hearing Centre we provide both custom and ready-to-wear hearing protection. Custom earplugs are made in the exact form of your inner ear ensuring a perfect fit, making them even more effective than off-the-shelf options, which provide great convenience and value for money.
MUSIC PLUGS
We supply both custom and ‘off-the-shelf’ earplugs designed for those simply looking to protect their hearing from loud music at venues such as festivals and parties, as well as music artists who may also require more functional hearing protection. Available with built-in drivers and a headphone jack to play music. We can also provide custom earpieces able to fit existing headphones.
SHOOTING PLUGS
The sound of gunfire can permanently damage your hearing in milliseconds, which is why It is essential to use the correct, high performance shooting plugs in order to prevent irreversible damage. We supply custom and ‘off-the-shelf’ solid, filtered and electronic earplugs to suit the shooter’s needs.
SWIMMING PLUGS
Swimming earplugs from Honiton Hearing Centre are of a high quality, floatable silicone ensuring exceptional fit, comfort and effectiveness for any situation where it may be undesirable to allow water into the ears. They can be personalised in a range of colours and designs, giving each pair a unique touch.
SLEEP PLUGS
Sleep plugs can be an invaluable aid for anyone looking to enhance their sleep quality. These simple yet effective devices are designed to reduce noise pollution, a common obstacle for both falling asleep and staying asleep. By creating a quieter sleep environment, sleep plugs help mitigate disturbances from traffic sounds, noisy neighbours, hospitals or a snoring partner, thereby facilitating a more restful and uninterrupted sleep cycle.
MOTORCYCLES PLUGS
Exposure to sounds created by motorcycles for prolonged periods of time can cause damage to the inner ear, resulting in temporary or permanent deafness, Tinnitus and oversensitivity to various sounds. We supply low profile, custom and ‘off-the-shelf’ earplugs with the option of a moulded communication system.
WORK PLUGS
Sites are filled with sources of potentially damaging noise, from heavy machinery to power tools. Prolonged exposure to these sounds can lead to permanent hearing loss and other auditory issues. Our custom and ‘off-the-shelf’ plugs incorporate a passive acoustic filter, which suppresses these loud noises whilst maintaining the ability to hear speech, ambient noise and use telephones and radios.
ORDERING YOUR EARPLUGS
To get your custom earplugs, we will first arrange a short appointment to take impressions of your inner ear. These impressions will then be sent off and used to create your bespoke plugs, before being delivered directly back to you. If you are looking for ready-to-wear plugs, pay us a visit or give us a call as we have many great options readily available.
