MEET THE TEAM

Get to know the friendly bunch here at Honiton Hearing Centre!

  • Andy is the managing director of Honiton Hearing Centre and has been great friends with Colin for over 20 years. He qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist in 2003 and followed with Basic and Advanced Clinical Ear Care courses to qualify to remove ear wax and enhance his scope of practice in 2010.

Andy formed his own Company “Andrew Bird Hearing” in 2007. His passion for providing the best quality service and product is closely aligned with Colin and Sam’s ethos, which led him to purchase Honiton Hearing Centre in June 2022, adding this as a sister company to his own. Since then, he has expanded the staff at the Centre and is looking to expand the hearing care provision further.

DIRECTOR

  • Colin is the current clinical lead and founded Honiton Hearing Centre in 2002 with his wife and Practice Manager Sam, as a development from his original home-visit business. Colin is a Registered Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser, originally qualifying in 1999 and completing a further degree in Hearing Aid Audiology in 2010. He also qualified in Basic and Advanced Clinical Ear Care using Irrigation and Microsuction at Aston University in 2011.

He has been removing wax, carrying out hearing tests and prescribing hearing systems at the Centre ever since.

LEAD AUDIOLOGIST & HEARING AID DISPENSER

  • Sam is the practice manager (and Colin’s long-suffering wife!) and oversees all the administration, HR, accounts, PAYE, VAT and goods in and out. Sam joined the practice in 2008 and with Colin built it up to be a leading provider of hearing healthcare in East Devon. Her background is in administration, working for a large Solicitors for 25 years in the finance/accounts department as a senior legal cashier, before joining Colin at the Centre in Honiton.

Being a hearing aid user herself she knows some of the challenges first-hand and is quite often asked for advice on various issues from cleaning to connecting to mobile phones and is always happy to help if she can.

PRACTICE MANAGER

  • Alana is a degree qualified Audiologist and Hearing Aid Dispenser, who qualified in 2021 and subsequently worked for a high street chain.

Whilst studying for her degree, she undertook further advanced modules in Clinical Ear Care and Wax Removal. Alana has joined the Audiology team and she; Colin and Andy are now looking to develop the practice further.

AUDIOLOGIST & HEARING AID DISPENSER

  • Karen is the Hearing Care Assistant and Wax Removal Specialist at the practice. Having worked as a nurse for 25 years, she joined us in late 2022 and brings a breadth of knowledge of patient care to her role here.

She has qualified as a Hearing Care Assistant and enhanced her NHS wax removal qualification from Rotherham with an advanced Irrigation and Microsuction qualification at the end of 2022.

WAX REMOVAL SPECIALIST

  • Sharon is our Patient Care Coordinator and is usually the first point of contact at the practice. Thanks to her, the clinicians are in the right place at the right time. She runs the diaries, answers the phones and ensures all the client records are up-to-date and GDPR compliant.

Sharon joined us from a large multi-national telecom company, so her organization, computer and telephone skills are first rate and an absolute asset to us.
